"ALEA IACTA EST (“THE DICE IS CAST”)"
|
|
In Danish we say “The dice are cast”, but the Romans used only one die. The Latin expression means that the final decision has been irrevocably made. The quotation is attributed to Julius Caesar and rather aptly symbolizes the choice I made when deciding to stop as a high school teacher in order to become a full-time jewelry designer. Caesar’s choice in crossing the Rubicon triggered a civil war in the Roman world, while my choice gave me the opportunity of regarding the world in a new, imaginative way. |
