The necklace symbolizes the end of one way of life and the beginning of another. On leaving my job as a high school teacher, I made myself a parting gift. Small punched-out circles of the multicoloured photocopying papers from the school were strung into a 5-metre-long chain which was then plaited into a necklace. It reminds me of an interesting and colourful time as a teacher. |
